Dr. Ronald B. Shapiro

Dr. Ronald B. Shapiro was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina, he went on to receive his medical degree from the University of North Carolina, School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at Indiana University Medical Center. His postgraduate fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology was completed at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Shapiro is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. Dr. Shapiro began Pediatric Cardiology of Austin in August 2001. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Travis County Medical Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Cardiology, and the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography.

Dr. Frank Wong

Dr. Frank Wong was born in Shanghai, China and has been living in Texas since early childhood. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, he went on to receive his medical degree and completed his residency in Pediatrics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His postgraduate fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology was completed at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Wong is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Travis County Medical Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American College of Cardiology.

He joined Dr. Ronald Shapiro at Pediatric Cardiology of Austin in October 2004, and is happy to be here with his wife, Yvette, and son, Nicholas.

Dr. Byron Holt

Dr. D. Byron Holt was born on a U.S. naval base at Subic Bay, Philippines and has been living in Texas since early childhood. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Rice University, he went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his pediatric residency, pediatric cardiology fellowship, and interventional catheterization fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Holt is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Travis County Medical Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, and American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Holt’s area of specialty is interventional catheterization of children with congenital heart disease. He is currently the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Dell Children’s Medical Center, and is the only 4th year fellowship trained interventional pediatric cardiologist in the Austin area. He also maintains privileges at St. David's Medical Center and University Hospital at Brackenridge for catheterization of adult patients with congenital heart disease.

He joined Dr. Ronald Shapiro and Dr. Frank Wong at Pediatric Cardiology of Austin in July 2007, and is happy to be here with his wife, Angie, and his daughter, Gabriella.
